What a great experience. The signs, the crowd (police estimate at 1500), the speakers – Gov. Perry, Michael Williams, Tina Benkiser and others, but most of all – the purpose: Speaking out against those very individuals whom we elected to serve us that have chosen to bankrupt us instead.
It is so evident from the manner in which people spoke that their anger and frustration over current government spending is at an incredibly high level. Huge tax increases are coming and they will adversely effect each individual, their children and their grandchildren. The idea that this country has become something so incredibly foreign to them was very apparent. Even at 51, this is not the same country that I grew up in. The scary part? Its happened in such a short amount of time.
I can only hope that this movement to speak out gains momentum. I don’t know what the next step is, but a step has to be taken. And then another one. And then another one.
